Comment:
The father of Judith, wife of Earl Waltheof, has been widely reported as either Lambert, Count of Lens, or Enguerrand, Count of Ponthieu, previous husband of Adeliza. Greene follows Catherine Morton and Hope Mutz, ed. Carmen de Hastingae Proelio (Oxford, 1972), 126-28, in assigning paternity to Enguerrand of Ponthieu, though Frank Barlow, in his 1999 edition of the Carmen de Hastingae Proelio, retains the idea of the Lens paternity. I here present the traditional Lens filiation, though it is essentially a guess.
